Great news for fans of foldable phones!
OPPO launched their newest generation of premium foldable smartphones on Oct 19. Described by OPPO as the next step in reimagining foldables and intended to introduce breakthrough technologies in the categories, the brand-new Find N3 and Find N3 Flip promises unmatched experiences in imaging, design, and usability. In Singapore, these cutting-edge new foldables will be available for SGD 2399/- and SGD 1499/- for the Find N3 and Find N3 Flip respectively.
Said Pete Lau, SVP and Chief Product Officer of OPPO, “Our goal at OPPO is to create the best, and that’s what we’ve done with Find N3 and Find N3 Flip. A big-screened foldable should always be a pleasure to use, so Find N3 has two clear, bright, comfortable, rich-looking displays; neither screen is a compromise. We also believe that premium smartphones should have incredible cameras; yes, even flip phones. So, both Find N3 and Find N3 Flip can capture life’s precious moments without missing the fine details.”
Notably, the new Find N3 series smartphones aren’t just about new features and functionalities; OPPO devoted equal effort to improving staple features on top of retaining winning aspects from their older generation foldables. Without further ado, here’s a quick round-up of what the new OPPO Find N3 and Find N3 Flip each have to offer. I’ve also included my reactions and opinions.
OPPO Find N3 Key Features
To directly quote from OPPO, the Find N3 “combines a thin and light design with an elevated aesthetic.” Its two screens claim to be the sharpest and brightest of any foldable to date. It is also the first book-like foldable to feature a Hasselblad-tuned pro-grade camera system, while the ColorOS 13.2 interface offers PC-level-like productivity in one’s palm.
The new “Boundless View” capability furthermore ensures an enhanced and effortless multitasking experience.
Third-Generation Flexion Hinge
There’s an impressive number involved with the Find N3’s third-generation Flexion Hinge. Other than being smaller than the previous generation hinge, the Find N3 has been independently tested to withstand a stunning one million folds by TÜV Rheinland.
The new hinge does what the 2023 market expects of it too. It closes with barely any gap. It doesn’t add to the phone’s weight and girth. When opened, the crease is minimal. Barely noticeable when the Find N3 is fully unfolded.
For users still wary about trying folding phones, I suspect this state-of-the-art new hinge might just be the convincing factor. To know more about the new Flexion Hinge and how smooth it gets, watch my above video at 03:28.
“The Clearest and Brightest Foldable Screens”
Both screens of the Find N3 bring with them impressive and incredible numbers.
They are capable of 2,800 nits peak brightness with over 425 pixels per inch for clarity. The LTPO technology also allows for a smooth 1-120Hz dynamic refresh rate for fluid scrolling, while a self-healing layer smooths out scuffs, making Find N3’s unfolded screen almost crease-free for an uninterrupted view.
With a peak brightness that high, you really, really mustn’t switch on this phone’s screens while in a cinema.
By the way, the Find N3’s cover and main screens measure 6.3” and 7.8” respectively—“taller” than previous generations. In closed form, the width is nearly the same as standard bar-type smartphones.
Three Pro-Grade, Hasselblad-Tuned Cameras
This was the feature/enhancement that interested me most and I can go on and on discussing it. But first, a quick description of what’s packed in.
It’s a Cosmic Ring design with three cams—48 MP (ultra-wide), 48 MP (wide), and 64 MP (telephoto). According to OPPO, the corresponding full-frame equivalent focal lengths are 14mm, 24mm, and 70mm.
The camera is also enhanced with Hasselblad Portrait Mode. while OPPO’s Computational Photography engine ensures excellent dynamic range with natural-looking results.
More importantly, the Find N3 features Sony’s “two-layer stacked” 48MP1 LYTIA-T808 CMOS sensor. Very simply, this stackable sensor creates more space for the receiving of light. To repeat what’s emphasised during the launch, this sensor is 20 percent larger than the last generation but improves dynamic range by a stunning 255 percent.
Ask any experienced digital photographer and I’m sure you’d be told that it’s not megapixel, lens build, or lens size that makes the most difference in digital imaging quality. It’s sensor size. (And sensor quality, of course) For a start, a bigger sensor vastly helps with noise reduction in low-light scenarios.
I couldn’t extensively try the Find N3’s low-light imaging capabilities during the launch but from what I could see at the demo studio, the Find N3 seems capable of handling a low-light indoor scene that I would only trust a full-frame DSLR to decently capture.
It’s also interesting, or should I say heartening, that OPPO pumped the telephoto cam with a 64 MP resolution. (It comes with 3x optical zoom and OIS too) Would macros and zooms taken by the Find N3 be equivalent in quality to those taken by the “main” camera, a feat few other if any smartphones are capable of? This is an area I’m truly curious about.
“PC-level Productivity in Your Pocket”
First and foremost, the Find N3 runs on Android 13 with ColorOS 13.2. Owners will also receive four years of software updates and five years of security updates, as part of OPPO’s commitment to a long-lasting quality experience.
And as far as multi-tasking and productivity are concerned, the Find N3 is equipped with two sleek features to woo users with. There’s a global taskbar with App Library and File Pocket to ensure what you need is always within reach. OPPO also introduced the “Boundless View.” In a nutshell, this feature allows users to smoothly flow across two full-screen apps on the Find N3’s 7.8 main screen.
It’s kinda like being able to work full-screen on one app, while another is running “off-screen.” When you need the other one, all you need to do is to swipe it into full view.
Best of all, it’s not restricted to two apps too. You can also use Boundless View with three apps.

OPPO Find N3 Flip Key Features
The Find N3 Flip comes with two new features that are sure to capture attention. It has a triple-camera system that includes a 32 MP 2x zoom telephoto camera; the first flip phone to do so. The upgraded vertical cover screen now supports third-party apps as well. Naturally, and like its bigger sibling, its Flexion Hinge was improved too.
“A Secure Fold That Can Handle a Splash”
I’ll go fast on this since I’ve already talked about it earlier.
Like that on the Find N3, OPPO’s upgraded Flexion Hinge for Flip makes Find N3 Flip’s shallow screen crease and zero-gap hinge possible. The Find N3 Flip also holds its position in FlexForm mode between 45-120 degrees, and TÜV Rheinland has independently tested it to withstand an incredible 600,000 folds.
That figure is lesser than the Find N3’s 1 mil folds certification but still, you’re unlikely to hit that number of folds, right?
Doing More on the Upgraded Cover Screen
This is the most attractive feature of the Find N3 Flip, IMO. The one that’d have fans swooning.
OPPO retained a vertical bar format for the cover screen, while also now enabling it to support third-party apps. In other words, the Find N3 Flip’s cover screen is quite near to that of the larger Find N3.
The screen can feature wallpapers that display real-time information and handy shortcuts. You can also install and use Google tools like Gmail, Wallet, and Maps, as well as favourites like Grab, Telegram, TikTok, X (formerly Twitter), WeChat, WhatsApp, and more.
OPPO’s cheeky, playful Interactive pets have evolved from 2D on the Find N2 Flip to 3D on the Find N3 Flip too. If you love those, and they are indeed adorable, there are more pets to pick from. There’s a Panda, a Koala, a Tiger, a Dog, a Bird, a Rabbit, and a meowy Cat.
Coming to image-taking, the cover screen uses the same orientation as the Find N3 Flip, which means it captures photos with virtually no crop.
To sum up, there’s a lot you can do with this upgraded cover screen. You might even end up not unfolding the phone at all throughout the day.
Triple Camera System and the First Flip Phone with a Telephoto Camera with Optical 2x Reach
This is an important advancement in the current world of flip phones. I think it also addresses the curious situation: Why shouldn’t a flip phone have a telephoto camera equipped with optical zoom?
At 32 MP and with Hasselblad Portrait mode, the Find N3 Filp’s telephoto camera furthermore promises what OPPO calls a “flattering, natural look.”
The other two cameras come in strong too. At 50 MP resolution, the wide (or main) camera features a fast f1.8 aperture with OIS. The ultra-wide camera is at 48 MP and with an f/2.2 aperture, and according to OPPO official specs, capable of 115º field of view and macro focusing up to as near as 4 cm.
Overall, while the Find N3 Flip features less impressive camera specs than its larger sibling, it’s still quite the powerful imaging gear. I think it’s especially impressive when you consider how small the folded form is.
