What to pamper dad with this Father’s Day.
Brief story. A couple of years ago, I decided to stop giving my dad belt sets and wallets for Father’s Day, his birthday, etc. Instead, I switched to gifting “new” things. New, as in things he has not used before.
The gifts were then hits and misses. But over time, my father did actively use most of the gifts. For example, the Fitbit watches. This then gave me a better idea of what he’s keener for.
What I’m saying is this. Men could be tough to buy gifts for, aren’t they? Doubly so for older guys. Triply so for father-in-laws! But sometimes, the easiest solution is perhaps to just consider something different.
There might be misses, but there is also the chance, the greater chance, that your dad would appreciate having something new to try.
After all, how many belts and wallets does a guy need?!?
Something fun and different could be a much better choice.

When is Father’s Day 2023?
Father’s Day is traditionally celebrated on the third Sunday of June. For 2023, it falls on Jun 18.
1. Rakuten Kobo Elipsa 2E eReader
The debate about physical books versus ebooks is still ongoing, and many, even younger people, have expressed a strong preference for the former. But hold your horses, don’t dismiss this gift idea right away. Even if you’re sure your (older-fashion) dad would stick to printed books and newspapers.
Consider the benefits of eReaders and eReading. An owner of an eReader like the new Rakuten Kobo Elipsa 2E (SGD 629.90) enjoys immediate access to ten of thousands of books. Many of these titles are free too thanks to apps like Overdrive, which is preinstalled in the Kobo Elipsa 2E and integrated with Singapore’s National Library Board. With this gift, you’d be bringing the digital collection of the NLB to your dad, presented via a 10.3 glare-free screen.
eReading moreover means minimised physical contact with shared books without giving up reading or library visits. I truly loathe to say this but with pandemic concerns still with us, switching to eReading as much as possible is a way of keeping safe.
And oh, the Kobo Elipsa 2E is not just an eReader, it’s a super high-tech notebook too. It comes with a special stylus that allows owners to effortlessly annotate eBooks. The same stylus can be used to mark up, highlight, erase notes, or transform handwritten text into typed text too. If your dad needs to regularly take notes for his work, I think this eReader would be an invaluable tool.
2. T2 Gift Packs
Is your dad a tea lover? Or do you want to introduce to him the health benefits of tea drinking? Whichever the case, I think there are few places in Singapore better than T2 to get a tea gift.
The luxury tea brand from Australia has over two hundred flavours, from exotic creations like Fruitalicious and Jade Mountain to evergreen favourites like French Earl Grey and Melbourne Breakfast. They also have quite an arty and eye-catching collection of teawares. Some of their teaware designs are nothing short of spectacular.
Better yet, T2 has over thirty tea gift packs, more if you include the packs that come with teaware. I strongly encourage you to head down to their stores or check out their website to leisurely go through the selection. If you need some recommendations for Father’s Day 2023, you could also consider one of more of the following:
T2 Five Gift Pack – Teabags (SGD 56/-): Five classic teas in handy teabags (eight of each). From timeless favourites like French Earl Grey and Melbourne Breakfast, to the calming Sleep Tight, to the strawberry-touched Gorgeous Geisha and sweet Just Peppermint. It’s the ultimate treat for tea lovers.
Icon Duo Gift Pack – Evergreens (SGD 40/-): Two green goddesses to make teatime unforgettable. Gorgeous Geisha is smooth and sweet, and features Sencha green tea goodness combined with the luscious flavours of strawberries. China Jasmine is a blend of green tea and jasmine, and produces a delicate light-yellow infusion with a jasmine scent.
Icon Duo Gift Pack – Timeless Two (SGD 40/-): A duo pack featuring French Earl Grey and Melbourne Breakfast, the top two loose leaf teas of T2. The former is fruity and floral with the signature touch of bergamot, while the latter is bold, rich, and velvety. A great gift for any tea lover.
3. DJI Mavic 3 Pro
I’d like to say the brand new DJI Mavic 3 Pro (prices from SGD 2999/-) drone is geared toward dads who are tech geeks or aerial photography enthusiasts. (And … if you don’t mind spending a bit more this year) But with what this powerhouse is capable of, I think just about anyone with the slightest bit of interest in photography would be delighted.
Because the DJI Mavic 3 Pro is not just another aerial photography drone. Housed within this brand-new flagship model is a state-of-the-art triple camera system—Mavic’s renowned Hasselblad camera plus two tele cameras. The DJI Mavic 3 Pro is furthermore empowered bya 43-minute maximum flight time, DJI’s signature Omnidirectional Obstacle Sensing, and 15km HD Video Transmission. Features that allow creators experienced or new to push the boundaries of their creativity.
Speaking of newcomers, no worries if dad is new to drones and aerial photography. The DJI Mavic 3 Pro might have the word “pro” in its name but it comes with a slew of handy features for beginners. For example, MasterShots, which shoots, edits, and adds soundtracks to footage shot by the Hasselblad camera with just one tap. And QuickShots, which performs diverse camera movements like Dronie, Rocket, Circle, and Helix.
Check out the official webpage for more information on this incredible drone! The DJI Mavic 3 Pro is available at DJI ARS stores at Funan, VivoCity and their upcoming store at Jewel Changi, official DJI online stores on Lazada and Shopee, selected camera shops island-wide, and consumer electronic stores including Best Denki, Challengers, Courts, Gain City, Harvey Norman, and Sprint-Cass.

5. M&S Linen Collection for Men
Here’s a gift idea that’s a little more conventional, but your dad might nonetheless appreciate it because … what in the blazes happened to Singaporean weather? It has always been hot but since when did it get THIS HOT?
Marks & Spencer (M&S)’s brand-new Linen Collection is made for hot weather. Easy-to-wear, lightweight, and available in neutral shades of light brown, cool white, and calming blues, the moisture-wicking fabric will help anyone stay comfortable in hot, humid weather. The neutral colours and classic style allow for easy matching with other apparel too.
The following are some signature designs from this cool new collection that would be great as Father’s Day gifts.

6. Sky22, Courtyard by Marriott Singapore Novena Father’s Day Promotion
Time for a dining recommendation!
The lofty Sky22 at Courtyard by Marriott Singapore Novena just launched its highly anticipated Mediterranean Set Dinner Menu on Jun 1, 2023. Drawing inspiration from the rich culinary cultures of Greece, Italy, Spain, and Morocco, the menu is a culinary adventure across the “Sea Between the Land” with an emphasis on the freshest ingredients, nutrition, and locality. (Mediterranean cuisine is ranked as one of the healthiest in the world)
For example, for appetizers, you can share starters such as the Adriatic Buratta served with confit leek, green sauce, and hazelnut. Or Crispy Artichoke with lemon aioli.
For mains, sail east to the Aegean Islands for Kleftiko, a Greek dish of 4-hours tender slow-roasted lamb shank with potatoes and dukkah. Or the ever-popular Greek Beef Mousaka featuring layers of minced beef, potatoes, and eggplant elevated with a creamy béchamel sauce.
Needless to say, there are exotic desserts as finales too. Such as Chocolate Babka French Toast and Apple Spiced Cake.

7. Soundpeats A6 Hybrid ANC Wireless Headphones
Would your dad appreciate a pair of wireless headphones for Father’s Day 2023? One that’s lightweight, comfortable to wear, equipped with Hybrid Active Noise Cancelling (ANC), and comes with great sound?
I recently bought the Soundpeats A6 … for myself … and gosh, this has got to be one of my best audio gear purchases. While the A6 doesn’t feel too premium to the touch—buttons could be a little harder to press too—everything else about it is a winner.
The ANC works magnificently and could kill much of the environmental din, particularly, lower-frequency hums. The foam padding is incredibly comfortable to wear—it doesn’t get warm and I could wear the A6 for three hours straight without any aches.
The sound is also nothing short of superb! Crystal clear with a balanced tuning. And with a bass that’s pronounced but not overpowering. In other words, great for most types of audio.
Here’s the best part about it too. The Soundpeats A6 is but SGD 69.90 on Amazon.sg, a fraction of what you have to pay given other brands. But don’t be put off by the low price. The A6’s audio quality is nowhere near cheap, not at all. If you’re a little tighter on budget this year, this might be the best audio gift to consider.
8. Kiehl’s Skincare Products for Men
In our enlightened age, I think there is no longer anything inappropriate about giving guys skincare products. Nope, not so even for older dudes.
If you agree and think a set of premium moisturizers and shaving cream, etc, would be a great dad’s day gift this year, consider the various men’s skincare products by Kiehl’s.
They are affordable. They can easily be ordered online too—you can mix and match. Best of all, they do work. I use Kiehl’s Body Fuel Wash (SGD 42/-) and Facial Fuel Energizing Face Wash (SGD 40/-) and yup, they are quite the invigorating, energising experience as promised. I started using their Age Defender Eye Repair (SGD 60/-) a fortnight ago and while I haven’t quite seen pronounced results yet, I’m relatively confident from reading online reviews that this eye cream will help hide the fact that I sleep way too late each night. (The shame …)
Check out their web store today! Other than the products I’ve mentioned, Kiehl’s also has moisture treatments, shave creams, lip balms, etc. In other words, a full range of products to help any guy look his best, with all perfect as Father’s Day gifts.
9. LAC LeanCut™ Belli Lean/LAC Men’s Mega Maca
If you were to ask me, I’ll tell you right away that dad bods are hawt. I mean, Fat Thor was the best part of Endgame, wasn’t he?!?
But my opinions about … myself are probably skewed. If your father feels fleshy dad bods aren’t quite the style for him, and if excess weight is sapping his energy each day, this gift idea might be the thing for you and him. The following two nutritional gifts by LAC (Leader in Antioxidative Control) could be the best gift for him come Jun 18, 2023.
LAC LeanCut™ Belli Lean (SGD 17.50 before discount): Formulated using a proprietary blend of ingredients such as Corn Silk Extract, Lemon Balm Extract, Red Vine Leaf Extract, Lotus Leaf Extract, Eucommia Leaf Extract and Medium Chain Triglycerides, LAC LeanCut™ Belli Lean works hard to reduce water retention and subcutaneous fats under the skin. Other than trimming those absurdly stubborn fatty inches, LAC LeanCut™ Belli Lean can also reduce visceral fat that wraps about organs.
LAC Men’s Mega Maca (SGD 70.95 before discount): With Maca Root as one of the key ingredients, this powerful and invigorating men’s tonic promotes men’s hormonal balance and nourishes men’s vitality. It’s a convenient and tasty drink that, ahem, improves libido as well as overall health, as reduced testosterone levels can affect muscle and bone health, among other concerns.
10. Bath & Body Works
Here’s another body care and fragrance chain to consider getting your Father’s Day 2023 gift from.
With six shops across Singapore, Bath & Body Works has a wide range of men’s products from grooming products to colognes to body washes. Most of their products for dudes also have decisively masculine names like Black Tie, Bourbon, Graphite, and Smoked Old Fashioned. In other words, a great way to express your appreciation for the always reliable, big strong man in your life.
What’s more, you can mix and match at their outlets to assemble a unique gift pack for your dad. For every SGD 40/- or SGD 80/- purchase, you can also have your purchases packed into an eye-catching box that’s gifting ready.
Head on down to their outlets today to have a look. A shout-out here too. Bath & Body Works recently expanded their VivoCity outlet. With an expanded floor space as well as shelves after shelves of colourful products, finding the perfect scent for dad at this outlet will be a joy in itself.
11. Swatch Art Journey 2023
Watches are very traditional gifts for guys. Often, they are among the most expensive and formal gifts too.
They don’t necessarily have to be so, though; after all, it’s the thought that matters. If your father has a playful or arty side, the Swatch Art Journey collection (from SGD 150/-) could have the perfect timepiece he would be delighted to own.
A collaboration between the Swiss watchmaking giant and art institutions such as MoMA and the Uffizi, the collection features designs that range from avant-garde to quirky, to the classically ornate. Inspired by the artwork of masters past and present such as Jean-Michel Basquiat, Roy Lichtenstein, and Botticelli, each design also exudes a different creative statement. In other words, not all are visually bold. Some, such as the René Magritte-inspired ones, are enigmatically intriguing.
Any will add a dash of imaginative sophistication to your dad’s timepiece collection.

13. HP ENVY x360 13 Laptop
For many modern dads, a laptop is an indispensable part of work, isn’t it? Correspondingly, an aged, slow faulty one could be his worst daily frustration too.
