Singapore Christmas decorations 2020 Round-Up.
Quick pictorial post. Or rather, a picture clean-up post, of sorts.
I’ve been going about downtown, you see, and while at it, snapping pictures of Christmas decorations placed up by shopping malls. (There’s currently over a GB of such Xmas festive pictures on my comp)
All decorations are decidedly less elaborate compared to last year, of course. There’s also a lack of open-air festive markets or large playgrounds for kids.
That said, it’s unfair to claim there’s nothing to enjoy. Or that there’s nothing attractive to photograph. In a way, the reversion to simpler, more traditional motifs, actually brings about a more traditional Yuletide feel.
Oh wait, I’ve already mentioned this several times in older posts, haven’t I? Let me thus save you the reading and just jump right ahead to the pictures.
Christmas in Singapore 2020
Marina Bay Sands
Let me start with glitzy Marina Bay Sands.
If I remember correctly, they started putting up their decors as early as October. There is also a festive walk of sorts at Marina Bay Waterfront Promenade. The environmentally friendly trees used at the latter is, well, a great idea, as well as very socially conscious.

Suntec City
Suntec City didn’t put up any massive tree this year. But they do have an Elf workshop showpiece outside one of their entrances. (The one right next to the entrance to the Esplanade MRT Station)

Great World City
Great World City’s stylish Christmas Tree this year is a blend of superior placement and avant-garde flair.

City Square Mall
PAW Patrol from Nickelodeon takes center stage at City Square Mall this Christmas. Other than the canine heroes accompanying traditional Christmas trees and lights, there’s also a dino-themed e-hunt.

Plaza Singapura
Good ol’ Plaza Singapura is a place dear to my heart, because my mom told me it’s the first Singaporean shopping mall I visited as a baby in the 70s, and because I took Electone lessons here for a while. (Yucks, I had one exam there too)
They don’t have much this year, though. But, hey, the decorations are themed around musical instruments! There’s even a music keyboard on display!

The Lego Lovers: Bugis Junction and Funan Mall
Bugis Junction and Funan Mall are both going the Lego way this festive season.

Marina Square
While it’s obviously not intended for my age group, ahem, I love the kids’ carnival feel at Marina Square.

CHIJMES and Capitol Singapore
‘Right, I’ve already shown CHIJMES’ festive illumination, or artskin projection, for this year. (See above). Here’s a video clip of the actual projection.

VivoCity
Last but not least, massive VivoCity!
There’s no bouncy playground this year. But their signature HUGE outdoor Christmas tree is there. There’s also a very photogenic backdrop at the heart of their atrium.
