Tendon Kohaku Clarke Quay Central ReviewTendon Kohaku Hokkaido Autumn Momiji Special Rice Bowl.

Hokkaido autumn-inspired Japanese dinner at Tendon Kohaku Clarke Quay Central.

Time for another quick geeky restaurant visit write-up. This time, it’s a family dinner two Thursdays ago.

Location was the (new) Tendon Kohaku (天丼琥珀) Japanese restaurant at Clarke Quay Central. Since Don Don Donki opened next door a while ago, I’ve passed by this classic Edomae Tendon restaurant several times. And correspondingly, was fascinated by the displays of their towering offers.

My overall verdict for the dinner: it was definitely fun, and intriguing, “exploring” the many ingredients of my Hokkaido Autumn special bowl. The minimalist interior with its cypress walls and fittings was also a thoroughly Japanese experience. Floor space was a little cramped on the whole, but that just added to the overall Tokyo feel of the restaurant.

Tendon Kohaku Clarke Quay Central Entrance.
Main entrance. If you don’t read Chinese or Japanese, “Kohaku” means amber. (You know, the fossilised resin that set in motion the Jurassic Park stories …)
Tendon Kohaku Clarke Quay Central Interior.
Interior of Tendon Kohaku Clarke Quay Central. Definitely an emphasis on classic Japanese minimalism here.
Tendon Kohaku Menu and Promotion Item.
The menu and seasonal promotion items. I have to say there are fewer items on the menu than I expected. Maybe it’s because everybody comes for the same signature dish.
Kohaku Tendon Special.
What my folks ordered. The Kohaku Tendon. This comes stacked with vegetables, prawns, other seafood, and even chicken, all perfectly fried and still juicy on the inside. The staff was also very obliging and had the sauce in a separate bowl. (You could request for the sauce to be spicy or non-spicy)
Tendon Kohaku 2019 Hokkaido Autumn Momiji Special.
What I had. The Hokkaido Autumn Momiji special. Fascinating, isn’t it? So many different ingredients stacked in such an artistic manner. Also, I had no idea whether you’re supposed to … eat the maple leaf. So I munched away. Definitely an interesting taste!

Tendon Kohaku Clarke Quay Central is at 6 Eu Tong Sen St, #B1-52,53 The Central, Singapore 059817. (Next to Don Don Donki)
