Sentosa Sandsation: STAR WARS Edition | Sep 4, 2019

Iconic scenes from all eight Star Wars episodes transform Siloso Beach in a mini Tatooine for Sentosa Sandsation: Star Wars Edition.

Sentosa Sandsation 2019 is happening! With renowned characters from a certain galaxy far, far away gathering in Siloso Beach.

If you’re a long-time fan of the world’s most famous space opera, or a new convert, or just looking to get into the mood for the upcoming Episode 9, YOU MUST VISIT. Every major Star Wars character is represented in this beach event. Many displays also pay loving homage to iconic scenes from the canon movies.

(Hate to say this, but too bad, the spin-offs and animated series are set aside. Sorry, Rebels fans!)

Master Yoda | Sentosa Sandsation STAR WARS Edition
Master Yoda himself welcomes you at the entrance.
Darth Vader at Sentosa Sandsation STAR WARS Edition
Lord Vader lurks but a few steps away from Master Yoda. Luckily, his lightsabre isn’t pointing in the direction of everyone’s favourite Jedi Master.
Obi-Wan Kenobi at Sentosa Sandsation STAR WARS Edition
Master Kenobi isn’t far from the entrance too. Together with Lord Vader’s set, this plays out that legendary battle scene from Star Wars IV: A New Hope. (The one that didn’t end too well for Master Kenobi, if you know what I mean)
Han Solo and Chewbacca | Sentosa Sandsation STAR WARS Edition
The Galaxy’s most legendary smuggling duo. Inlay: Looks like sand works as well as Carbonite when it comes to deep freezing suave rogues for transportation.
Sentosa Sandsation 2019.
I guess you wouldn’t be reading this post, or still be reading it, if you do not know who this legendary character is! Check out the details on her blaster. And her, erm, hair buns.
Emperor Palpatine at Sentosa Sandsation 2019.
The tallest sculpture was this one, and did it send a chill down my spine! The Emperor looks QUITE READY to zap you with force lightning should you touch his sculpture.
The Last Jedi Characters
Sentosa Sandsation: STAR WARS Edition pays tribute to the newer movies too. Rey, Finn, Poe, Kylo, they are all here. Notice how each is accompanied by a representative icon too.
Sentosa Sand Sculptures 2019.
My favourite sculpture! I’m not a fan of Phasma; I think she’s pretty darn useless. But presented this way, wow, her presence is overwhelming. I can almost hear Imperial March playing.

Sentosa International Sand Sculpting Championship 2019

Like last year, Sentosa Sandsation 2019 also plays host to this year’s Sentosa International Sand Sculpturing Competition. So it’s not all about the tribulations of that Galaxy far, far away.

Sentosa International Sand Sculpturing Competition 2019
Some of the competition pieces. I’m going to repeat what I wrote last year. Some of these surreal creations would look incredible as bosses in a Persona/Shin Megami Tensei game.

Merchandise

Star Wars Merchandise in Singapore.
Last but not least, the merchandise section at the Sapphire Pavilion. According to the official website, there are exclusive Star Wars items on sale here.

Sentosa Sandsation: STAR WARS Edition is ongoing till Sep 15, 2019. Other than the exhibits, there are also demonstrations and workshops. You can make your own sandy Stormtropper helmet!

You didn’t think I would forget to put a pic of Luke Skywalker, did you?
