(I’m presenting this write-up a little differently this year. I mean, cannot every year repeat the same story of go there, makan, take pic, and wait for light-up, right? Anyway, I’ve been getting increasingly verbose, so it’s about time, I suppose, to trim my posts.)
1. The Hip
There’s been some recent debate, but I think hipster food is going to remain a key attraction of the Geylang Serai Bazaars. Personally, I don’t mind this at all.
2. The Traditional
It’s not all hipster food at Geylang Serai Bazaar 2019. Compared to last year, there look to be more stalls this time round selling classic pasar malam cuisine, likely for the benefit of visitors looking to break Ramadan fast in a more traditional way. The food sold by these stalls all looks incredibly yummy too.
3. The Refreshing
Thai Iced tea must be really popular! There were so many stalls selling it! (I had two large cups so it looks like I’d be staying awake the whole night …)
4. The Enchanting
One of my favourite stalls. Like I wrote last year, walking into it is like entering a fairy alcove.
5. The Glamourous
Don’t these robes look positively regal? They strongly reminded me of Blank Panther. As in, what Queen Ramonda would wear.
6. The Kueh Kueh
Every ethnic festival in Singapore has its own associated “kueh” and snacks. For me, it’s always mesmerising to see them stacked this way
7. The Fun
UFO catchers greatly outnumber rides and carnival games this year. I wonder why …
8. The Scary!
This is from one of the UFO Catchers and I have no idea what’s going on! Pikachu meets Walking Dead?!
9. The Evening Colours
As sunset finishes its run, the nocturnal colours splashes on …
10. The Magic of the Night
Geylang Serai Bazaar 2019 festive lights. Brightening up the nights of Ramadan with a spectrum of colours.
