A brief visit to Anime Garden 2018 at Gardens by the Bay.
Popped by Gardens by the Bay Supertree Grove in the afternoon to check out Anime Garden 2018.
Cosplay isn’t my thing, to be honest. For that matter, neither is Pikachu too. But, one should always expand one’s horizons, yes? (Translate: I’ve been posting too little about Anime)
Anyhow, I’ve been night-binging on Anime over the last six months too, thanks to Netflix, and so I thought I just might run into a few familiar characters.
(This is a short pictorial post, BTW. As I discovered during my visit, I’m quite “uninformed” about the world of cosplaying, to say the least)
Anime Garden 2018 main stage. People were already queuing for the celebrity cosplayers’ autograph session when I arrived.Cosplayers and admirers. (The latter includes me, of course)Pokémon Game Booths, one of the main attractions of the event. I couldn’t even get near!A very cool-looking Kirito from Sword Art Online. These two look great! Don’t they? And of course, pika pika. Pika pika, pika piiiiii ka piii! (Super noisy and long queue for selfies with him)
Other than Pikachu, there were several other attractions in the garden.
a.M.A.Z.E. in Wonderland. An Alice in Wonderland inspired giant card maze. It was a little smaller than I expected, though.Screening of Kimi no Na wa scheduled for later in the evening. As I’ve already watched this twice, and failed in my attempts to read the novel, I didn’t stay for this.
Last but not least, the celebrity cosplayer autograph session. I have to confess I was quite lost during this, not having visited any cosplay event for years. And so all I can say is, they look like living dolls! Truly the, erm, fantasy of, 3D fantasy lovers, to quote Shinpachi from Gintama.
The bubbly emcee for the session. She spoke both Japanese and English so flawlessly.Ms Angie from Malaysia. She’s the stuff of dreams!
The Japanese-themed event lasted a fortnight. With the next weekend featuring … an Electone performance!
